CPE is an acronym for Concerned Parents and Educators. The core concern of the group is advocacy for quality education irrespective of the socio-economic status of a child’s parents. A child may be enrolled in a low-cost school due to factors beyond the child yet CPE is concerned that such child and every child in similar schools around Nigeria should receive quality education. Low-cost School support is one of the major focal points of CPE and that is because these schools want to do more but do not have the resources to do more.
Low-cost Schools are schools that charge relatively low fees compared to other private schools, however, the students attending such schools are typically from households in low economic strata and with poor educational levels. Many problems that children in such schools face include lack of educational materials, poor infrastructure for learning, and unhealthy learning environment. To provide some support to some of those schools, CPE donates educational materials to schools, and in some cases, pay the school fees of indigent learners for a year.
The donation to low-cost schools included Educational Materials (books, Tables, Books, Toys) and these came from High-Cost schools through CPE in order to foster quality education and also to motivate them not to give up on delivering quality and standard education despite the challenges and limitations.
From the time the project came into existence till now, the project has been effective as various low-cost schools across the states in Nigeria have benefited from this great program. On the 29th of August 2019, The Nations Newspaper published it because of how
effective the program was. The support from High-Income schools has been massive and effective that High-Income schools have seen this as a means to carry out their corporate social responsibilities through CPE.
