In 2020, as the world grappled with the devastating effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, a wave of despair swept through communities worldwide. On the Facebook group of the Concerned Parents and Educators Network (CPE), teachers and families in low-income areas began to share heartbreaking stories of job losses, hunger, and the struggle to survive in the midst of the pandemic. As the tales of hardship piled up, the admins and supporters of CPE could no longer sit idly by.
Led by Mrs. Yinka Ogunde, the CPE team took immediate action, organizing a series of visits to low-income areas to provide palliative support. Teachers, many of whom were out of work due to the closure of schools, were among the primary beneficiaries of the scheme. But the support didn’t stop there. Families in need, facing economic hardships exacerbated by the pandemic, also received assistance.
Generous Donations Drive the Relief Effort
This initiative was made possible by the generous donations from kind-hearted members of CPE, as well as supporters and partners in the diaspora. Their contributions provided food, supplies, and financial assistance to families in dire need. The impact of the initiative was immeasurable, as smiles returned to the faces of individuals who had been facing unimaginable hardship.
The CPE team’s visits were a lifeline for many, restoring hope and reaffirming the power of community support. As one teacher put it, “The palliative support gave me hope when I thought I had nothing left. I couldn’t believe strangers cared enough to help.”
Ongoing Support Four Years Later
Four years after the initial wave of Covid-19, CPE continues to provide support to low-income families. While the pandemic may have subsided, the challenges faced by these communities remain. CPE remains committed to offering financial assistance to low-income earners whenever possible, ensuring that families have the resources they need to survive and thrive.
In addition to financial support, CPE extends help to victims of high-handed employers and guardians who neglect their wards. The organization is a pillar of hope for those who find themselves vulnerable or oppressed, offering support in their time of need.
